That little gem of information that you have tucked away in the back of your mind, which you never thought you would ever make use of, could prove to be the winning answer! So come along, amaze yourself and have a good laugh at some of the weird and wonderful questions that our quiz setters manage to find.
Unlike a typical pub quiz we have no set teams - they are drawn at random on the day. So don't feel you can't come on your own. The quiz is purely for fun - there is no prize to be won.

Hands up!!
The success of this quiz group is reliant on us having volunteers to set and manage the quiz.
At a monthly quiz meeting if we lack volunteer(s) to set the next quiz that session will be cancelled.
Suggested standard quiz format from January 2025.
4 "called out" rounds plus 1 table round. Topics to be the question-setter's choice.
Each round to be worth 20 marks in total.
So if a question has multiple parts each part should be worth one mark. Therefore the number of questions in the round would be adjusted to ensure there are 20 marks available for the round. E.g. if in a music round each question asks for the name of a piece and its performer that would result in 2 marks per question - so 10 questions would be needed for that round.
What do quiz-setting volunteers need to do (other than prepare the quiz)?
- Print off sets of questions to give out to anyone who is hard of hearing.
- These are put into an envelope and drawn out as each question is asked to avoid any unfair advantage being given.
- Currently there is one member who needs this service: there may be more in the future
- Print off additional sheets where, for instance, there is a table round.
- Print off their set of Q&As to use during the quiz.
N.B. Question-setters can reclaim out-of-pocket printing expenses using the expenses form on our website (this is submitted to our u3a treasurer for payment).
