Derek Potter is a historian-travel writer. Coming from a long line of sea captains and chief engineers Derek has a strong interest in maritime history, and as a former officer in P&O lines and ocean-going yachtsman, a fascination for ocean travel and circumnavigation in the age of sail. Being a scuba diving instructor with thousands of dives, he became involved in many underwater expeditions and historical salvage projects, some of which involved the recovery of sunken treasure.
