Led by Terry & Mark Harris. A short but moderate walk from the Angel of the North car park, leaving at 10 o’clock. We will take the path below the Angel, through the wood and left onto Smithy Lane which takes us over the A1 and down into Longacre Wood; hopefully we’ll see a great show of bluebells. Once we reach Lamesley Road we’ll drop down onto the Bowes Railway track (steep steps or cross road to easier descent). This is the start of a mile long incline to Dunkirk Farm. We’ll turn left and follow the track between fields with 360° views and, hopefully, hear skylarks above. Once we reach Ravensworth Golf Club we’ll skirt right round the perimeter of the course and left across the fields to reach the photographic close-up view of the Angel. Then we’ll drop down onto the A167 and cross at the pedestrian lights back to the car park.
