We walk down the hill following the C2C route to Cox Green, cross the footbridge and turn right along the bridle path next to the River Wear. Just before the Victoria Viaduct we turn left and walk up through the woods past several cottages then drop down 15 steps onto the old railway line. We follow the flat path for a couple of miles past Wearside Golf Club then turn left to walk down Mile Lonnen and return to the river path. We follow the River Wear past the New Plough coffee trailer (toilets available) where we can stop for coffee. (If it’s raining, the New Plough may not be open in which case we’ll continue back across the footbridge and up the hill to the Teal Farm pub). Toilets at beginning and end of walk at the pub.
