Fulwell Circular

Fulwell Circular, led by Tania Le Marinel. A 4.5 mile loop.

We will meet at 10.00am in Morrison’s overflow car park (3 hour limit) at Seaburn next to the petrol station SR6 8AA (what three words: belt/frames/pool). We walk through Mere Knolls cemetery and partly alongside busy Newcastle Road before passing Sunderland Lime Kilns and then up the steps at Fulwell Mill. We’ll pass Sunderland Acoustic Mirror (used in WWI) then follow a footpath through Fulwell Quarry with wonderful views across the coast. We follow the footpath through fields, cross the A184, go under Spuggie’s Bridge close to Fulwell Water Pumping Station and then take the path through Cut Throat Dene back to Seaburn. It’s a mainly flat walk on footpaths with a few muddy bits due to recent rain. Toilets at Morrisons at the start/end of the walk.
